At the Hohenstein Lodge we have been keeping busy in the past few months with various renovations and improvements:
All buildings have been painted a new coat of warm earthly colours. The guest chalets have been re-arranged and are now equipped with new mosquito nets and mattresses. An upgraded new guide accommodation has been built and the manager house has been enlarged.
The fish pond at the restaurant has a new look, much of the vegetation has been removed resulting in more open water space where the many young fish can now clearly be observed.
Much of the encroaching bush in the near surrounding of the lodge has been removed, restoring the original landscape of open grassy plains. This makes the view from the terraces even more spectacular and allows for better game viewing at the waterhole.
As announced the walk way to the newly discovered rock painting at the foot of the Hohenstein has been completed. A guided tour of the rock paintings is included in the ‘boulder forest’ excursion.
The first half of the year has been an active an productive one and we are looking forward to a busy season ahead.
